Crane selection

In Heptomusee, the construction of the art museum progresses as player solve a certain number of puzzles. To add this construction scene to the game, we searched web for models of construction cranes. We would like to write about our experience selecting the appropriate crane model.

There are two main types of climbing tower cranes used at construction sites for buildings and other structures: the jib-type and the hammerhead-type. Each type has its own characteristics, and the choice of which type to use depends on factors such as the scale of the construction project, legal regulations, and the surrounding environment.

Also, while the paint color of the crane varies depending on the company, it seems that for taller cranes, they are required to be painted in red and white stripes according to aviation regulations.

In the case of Heptomusee’s construction, since it’s a feature within the game, we decided on the design based on the available models and color schemes.
