Landscape

In preparing the entire Heptomusee museum, one of the challenges was how to create a view of the surrounding area. Up until now, we had looked into objects to place, such as the surrounding mountains and forests, but we had not been able to find a solution that would allow for both a beautiful view and a good performance.

To avoid this, the solution was to use building structures and other obstructions to block the view in the near and medium distances.

However, since being unable to see anything would be bleak and unrealistic, we decided to place a mountain range in the distance. To prioritize performance, we kept the number of polygons to a minimum and compensated for this with textures, resulting in the landscape shown in the image below.

Because it is a distant view, we wanted to create an airy landscape that blends into the sky in the background, but since fog was not used due to performance issues, we used materials to achieve this. We increased the number of polygons for the ridge line that is the boundary with the sky to avoid it looking unnatural.
