In our previous article, we wrote that the policy for the puzzle pieces had not yet been decided.
We considered three options for creating this part, and we created a height map for each of them. Here is one of them:
Before converting this into a normal map, we tried creating a model using Blender’s Displace modifier, and was able to create a better model than we expected.
For this reason, we decided to create the model using Blender, based on the idea we had been considering, and then create the other necessary parts as well.
However, to create a beautiful model from a height map, it need to divide the plane into 3D model using the Displace modifier quite a lot. (In the example above, it is divided into 256×256.) As the number of faces is too large, apply the Decimate modifier to simplify the number of faces to about 3000. The details of the model will be lost, but the flavor of the old stone relief will come out.
